A revised smart specialisation strategy for the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region that was approved by the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Board in April 2020 is now available in Finnish.
The revised strategy is a significant instrument in creating sustainable growth based on innovation, which is especially important now that we are facing the impacts of Covid-19. This strategy will help the region to keep its position as the leading innovation area in Europe, achieved in 2019, while the goal continues to be on the list of the best resource wise regions.
The umbrella theme of the strategy is Resource-wise Helsinki-Uusimaa. This refers to a prudent and proactive use of various resources in ways that support the region’s carbon neutrality goals, urban development, industrial modernisation, and well-being in everyday life.
These goals are linked together and you can find interesting entities in the interfaces with a lot of opportunities for new kinds of research and innovation work. An important part of the implementation of the strategy will be to create different synergies. Not only regional cooperation, but also international reference networks play a key role.
