Helsinki Smart Region continuously an Innovation Leader

In the bi-yearly edition of the Regional Innovation Scoreboard published in July 2023, the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region holds the overall position of the second most innovative region in Europe. Innovation performance of the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region has increased over time by 18%.

Hovedstaden in Denmark gains the status of the most innovative region in Europe, while Oberbayern in Germany is third. Stockholm in Sweden holds the fourth place, and Berlin in Germany is in fifth place.

The Regional Innovation Scoreboard provides a comparative assessment of the research and innovation performance across 239 regions in 22 EU Member States, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
